Amanda Ainsley, M.A.-Intern

Amanda is a student intern pursuing her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico in 2017, and her Masters degree in 2020 experimental psychology, which focused on brain development in early life.

Amanda has been working in crisis settings since 2015 and has extensive experience working with survivors of sexual and domestic violence. She has worked in suicide prevention and intervention and has acted as a community educator in these areas. Following her advocacy work at a local crisis center, and prior to returning to the University of Tennessee to pursue her Clinical Mental Health Counselor degree, Amanda worked with individuals in recovery from substance misuse and acted as an overdose prevention specialist, providing harm reduction information and resources in the community.

These experiences have contributed to Amanda's worldview and belief that people are resilient and capable of making positive growth and change in their own lives. She is passionate about meeting people where they're at and walking with them on their healing journeys.
