Melanie sees clients of various ages, but has a passion for working with children, adolescents, and young adults. She engages in play therapy techniques to assist in building a therapeutic relationship and learningabout subconscious approaches and beliefs that a client may hold. Melanie is kind and supportive, and she is well-versed in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She uses these modalities to assist clients in building skills and modifying thought patterns and behaviors. Some areas of specialty include helping client’s cope with depression, anxiety, trauma, suicidal ideation, ADHD, grief and loss, attachment issues, and separation anxiety.
When not in session, you can find Melanie spending time with her husband, Jake, and her son, Casey. Melanie enjoys hanging out with friends, making art, hiking and spending time in nature, playing the guitar, exercising and going to the park with her dogs. Melanie finds it important to engage with the lifestyle practices she discusses with clients, so she is often practicing self-care, utilizing social supports, engaging in mindfulness practices, and finding good balances and boundaries in her day-to-day.
